Prayers of the People
"A burden shared is a burden halved,” (T. A. Webb) describes how our human needs unite us in communion with one another. On Sunday mornings, we recognize and express this union through the Prayers of the People. In God’s presence together we express our greatest human needs and our hopes for growth and transformation.
A small group of faithful folks gathers once a month to compose our own versions of the Prayers of the People (and emailing ideas, suggestions, edits, etc.) as a personal spiritual practice. Our goal is to compose a new “version” of the Prayers of the People for use during the different seasons of the church year. To inspire our prayer composition, we are using the lectionary texts, Sunday collects, and language from our Book of Common Prayer. Anyone is welcome to join our writing group on the last Tuesday each month.
